lyrics

Lyrics:

In 1990 and 1991 my father fought in a war called Operation Desert Storm
My mother was a nurse and she worked all night, she came back home and slept throughout the day, while my sister would play

And I thought, is this the American Dream
Is this what we forward to
It’s alright by me
And I don’t have a dog in the fight
But that's alright, at least for tonight

It didn’t matter that no one looked like me,
I watched Scottie Pippen on the Television screens, back in 93

Asking girls to skate at the Roller Rink
All my neighbors were Irish Catholic, but Emily, she was Protestant

And I thought, is this the American Dream
Is this what we forward to
It’s alright by me
And I don’t have a dog in the fight
But that's alright, at least for tonight
And I don’t have a single regret
For who I am, my parents blood and sweat

It didn’t matter what my teachers said to me
I watched my all favorite bands on MTV, back in 93

Fond memories and good times I had back then
All my neighbors were Irish Catholic, but Jonathan, he was Lutheran
